Emergency Contraception

I have found that while people are pretty interested in the topic of emergency contraception, there’s not a lot of understanding about how it does (or doesn’t work). In fact, I continue to be surprised at how many SANE/SAFE trainings out there don’t really cover much about EC beyond the type of meds and doses to give. So I was happy to run across Contraception Online’s downloadable slides on the topic.
This is a great site to browse if you’re hoping to add this content to an upcoming SANE/SAFE training, or simply do a clinical update at a staff meeting. Slides can be downloaded individually, so look through them and grab the ones that fit your need. Or download the whole set. One caveat, though: these slides are a couple years old, so they don’t necessarily reflect newer dosing recommendations. For info on current dosing recommendations, including citations for the research that supports the change in dosing, click here.
Physicians can also view the slide presentation for .75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. Sorry, no nursing CEs available for this offering.
