I received a request from a reader looking for information about the medical care of children pulled out of meth labs (also known as drug endangered children). I know several of you out there are doing this kind of work, so please chime in with recommended resources you like and use.

The National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children has a couple of medical-specific resources that should be helpful. The first is a PowerPoint presentation on the medical assessment of drug endangered children (PDF). The other is the actual medical protocol for evaluating children found in drug labs (PDF).

Additionally, many jurisdictions have their own protocols for medically evaluating drug endangered children. I’ve included a sample of some state protocols below (PDFs):
