Ultimate Educator

Okay, this isn’t online education information; it’s online educator information and it’s probably about time we got around to this. Because in this economy, not only are more and more of you coming to visit me on a regular basis, you’re also contemplating (or actually implementing) your own trainings. So allow me to point you toward a helpful resource.

The Office for Victims of Crime‘s National Victim Assistance Academy created a workbook back in 2002 for effectively designing, implementing and evaluating trainings. “This NVAA workbook reviews the basics of training design, the differences between adult and child learners, and ideas for making presentations memorable. Topics include coordination, learning styles, presentation techniques, facilitation skills, lesson development, and session evaluation. Includes sample forms and worksheets.”

If you do nothing else, check out the section on the adult learner (PDF); most people could use a little reminder that turning your back to your audience and reading every single word off your slide for 90 minutes is an ineffective teaching strategy.

There may be a problem with the “workbook” link in your post.
