Go-to Guide and a National Day of Remembrance and Action

Today (December 6th) is Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action To End Violence Against Women. So it’s only fitting that our Go-to Guide for the day comes from someone who has been working doggedly to address and enhance the response to victims of violence–not just in Canada (where she works and lives), but globally.

I asked Sheila Early for her one good resource, and because she is such a wealth of information, she couldn’t give me just one:)

When I think of the book that I “go to” first it is usually one of the Quick Reference ones.  Quick Reference Sexual Assault for Health Care, Social Services and Law Enforcement Professionals or the Child Abuse one

If it is for forensic nursing, the first edition of Forensic Nursing by Lynch

For law enforcement resource on Sexual Assault, it is Practical Aspects of Rape Investigation by Hazelwood and Burgess (the newest edition).

Which resource I go to depends on what I’m needing.

I also love the article  “Honey, we don’t do men”: re male sexual assault (Donnelly & Kenyon, 1996).

Thanks, Sheila!

(What about yours? Have any references you want to share?)
