While it is routine for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners and Child Abuse Physicians to evaluate children who have disclosed or are suspected as having been sexually abused, it is less common for children who are seen for a chief complaint of straddle injury to be examined by these same experts. This webinar will examine the child sexual abuse expert’s role in examining straddle injuries, and how to manage significant genital injury in children.

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  1. Summarize the need for child sexual abuse expertise when evaluating straddle injuries in children.
  2. Identify common injuries seen post straddle injury.
  3. Recognize traumatic genital injury more commonly seen with penetrating injury.
  4. Describe effective methods of managing traumatic genital injury in children.
