Articles of Note: August 2025 Edition

Good morning from a hot and humid Washington, DC. It’s time once again for Articles of Note, our monthly romp through the peer-reviewed literature. This month we are chock full of articles on IPV and brain injury. Really–just a ton of new reading on the topic, so I have included quite a bit in the lineup, including some promising research on biomarkers as identifiers of CTE by Bindra, et al. Also in the mix this month, another article about CTA in strangulation evaluation by Moon and colleagues. There’s a lot to dig into this month.

I’m just two days out from heading to Omaha for IAFN’s annual conference. I can’t wait to see folks there. Please make sure to say hi–you’ll see me all over the place this year, including the Wednesday session Jess and I are doing on reproductive justice and forensic nursing, plus pre-and post-conference testimony workshops. If you aren’t able to join us live, virtual conference registration is still open. And the 2026 Portland, OR conference will be here before you know it, as the conference shifts to the spring. Abstract submissions are open for that one.

Safe travels for all of you heading to Omaha. Happy reading. See you back here next month.
