Good morning, my friends. It’s going to be a busy week, as I head to San Diego tomorrow for the Emergency Nurses Association conference. If you’re going to be there, please come find me–there’s a good chance I’ll be somewhere near the IAFN exhibitor’s booth in between work sessions and actual conference sessions (I have no idea when the last time was that I went to a conference where I wasn’t presenting!). In the meantime, a few things that have caught my eye since last we spoke:
Sexist remarks and wolf-whistles could become criminal offences (The Guardian)
Soft-Pedaling Child-Rape (The Atlantic)
In D.C., another measure of gun violence: Men in wheelchairs (Washington Post)
A Look Around the Bend on the Health Innovation Highway (Fast Company)
Chicago Sun-Times pursues politician who dares to be a mom (Washington Post)
BU grad Ariana Katz on the school’s response to rape (Boston Globe)
Brenda Berkman, Former New York City Fire Department Captain, Talks Women At Ground Zero (Huffington Post)
Why Dudes need to be pissed off about Sexual Assault and Harassment (and Saveface) (Higher Unlearning)
First Day of Work (Forensic Nurses in Swaziland)
And because I cannot believe we still don’t have VAWA passed, a video for your consideration:
