Slow Down

I was supposed to have an Articles of Note post up yesterday, but in the mad race of this week, it just didn’t happen. But that’s not the purpose of this post–I’ll have it up next week and that will be that. No, the purpose of the post is to share a little food for thought that’s much needed on my end, as I have been obsessing over my calendar.

Summer is a time for me to slow down a bit (and a bit is really relative)–my daughter lives here full time in the summer, and so I limit my travel to only 1 trip a month without her. But she’ll leave in 3 weeks, we’ll go back to commuting back and forth to see each other every month, and then the fall travel ramps up for real. It’s a sick amount of time on the road. Mind you, that’s not a complaint–I like travel and I really like the reasons I get to travel. But even for someone who really loves her job, the reality is that it’s easy to get so highly regimented in order to make sure you don’t miss anything that you actually end up missing quite a lot.

As I was packing tonight (for pleasure, not work–we are finally getting around to taking our  [brief] familymoon), I was listening to TED. And one of the newest talks posted was this–a talk about clouds. I won’t tell you any more than that. Just watch, and it’ll make sense why it ends up being the perfect post for my Friday night.

Have a great weekend!
