Since Last We Spoke, 11/4/13

I’m in Montana this week, teaching a SANE course, so you know it’s going to be a busy one. I’ll try and keep posts regular, but I’m asking for a bit of leeway on that. You just never know what your connectivity and your time looks like during one of these weeks. My hope is that among other things, you’ll see a new Articles of Note (I may be overly optimistic). In the meantime, here’s some of what I’ve been reading since last we spoke:

When sex meets NCAA athletics (AlJazeera America)

The Case for Changing How Doctors Work (The New Yorker)

Herbal Supplements Are Often Not What They Seem (NY Times)

New Guidelines on Punishing Child Rape Win Praise, and Criticism (NY Times)

Is America Ready for Over-the-Counter STD Tests? (Daily Beast)

Opening Session: ‘We are here to be leaders’ (APHA—Ed: Their meeting opened on Sunday; follow the action at #APHA13 on Twitter if you’re not lucky enough to be in Boston this week)

Fallen Soldier on My Delta Flight (Huffington Post)

Preventive Health Screening, Ethics, and the Cognitively Impaired Patient (Medscape—Ed: This is a CME article)

Sexual assault victims now entitled to their own lawyer (Army Times)

Health professionals must screen for genital mutilation (BBC News)
