Articles of Note: Spooky Season 2026 Edition

It’s time once again for Articles of Note, our monthly romp through the peer-reviewed literature. I know I say this every month, but man, there is some really good stuff on this list. My friend Nancy Downing and her crew publishing on my favorite topic, imaging and strangulation (more of that below); Ruvalcaba and colleagues and their study featuring a study about nonconsensual images; and Draughon Moret and colleagues’ survey of services provided by forensic nursing programs.

Speaking of imaging and strangulation, hopefully you caught our discussion over at The Control Group, where we had a great yap session on this topic. Judging from our download numbers, many of you have found your way over to our podcast, which we very much appreciate. If you haven’t checked it out yet, or you’ve missed any episodes, you can find all of them at our webpage, or archived here at FHO. And if you’re interested in November’s topic, we’ll be discussing sexual assault and police reporting, based on this article.

Finally, a shoutout to our first cohort of fellows who will be joining us for the Forensic Nursing Leadership Collaborative at Penn State next week. This is a project that has been in the works for some time, and I am so excited to meet everyone who is coming (and share space with my brilliant collaborators). The plan is for this to be the first, not the only, so stay tuned for future announcements.

Happy reading; see you back here next month.
