Articles of Note: August 2026

It’s time once again for Articles of Note, our monthly romp through the newly published peer-reviewed literature. Let me tell you, one thing that pleases me to no end is seeing my friends on this list. Every month there is at least one, and August is no exception. I am surrounded by super-smart folks contributing to the discourse. Love it. A few I’m excited to read this month: Miyamoto, et al. on telehealth in rural and underserved communities; a review by Tran and colleagues on hymenal injury in child sex abuse patients; and Creason-Parker’s look at how rape myths impact arrests in sexual assault cases.

If you haven’t had a chance yet, you should check out our latest pod over at The Control Group, a discussion about trauma-informed care for IPV patients in the ED. You can find that episode and all our previous ones on the FHO dedicated page here, or check out our official website with the show notes. That’s where you’ll find a link to our next journal club article (hint: we’ll be discussing strangulation).

One final note, I will be presenting with the always amazing Dr. Julie Valentine at ICN in Nashville next month. If you’re going to be there, please come find me and say hey. One of the things that I am really missing as we get towards the fall is the lack of our annual conference and the fellowship of that meeting. Sigh.

Happy reading. See you back here next month.
